Chelsea advances and defeats Milan

The English team Chelsea defeated its invited opponent AC Milan 3-0 on Wednesday during the third round of games in Group E of the European Champions League, settling the score.

After losing to Dinamo Zagreb (1-0) in the opening round and drawing Salzburg (1-1), Chelsea earned their first victory in the competition. They now sit second in their group, one point behind Salzburg, with four points, while Milan moved up to third (4 points), and Dinamo Zagreb finished last (3 points). Wesley Fofana, a French defender for Chelsea, scored the team's first goal in the 24th minute after pouncing on Ciprien Tatarushanu's rebound. The French player scored his first goal for Chelsea in any tournament with this strike. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon scored the game's second goal in the 56th minute of the second half by capitalizing on a cross that Reiss James failed to clear. Aubameyang then marked Milan.

After receiving the ball on a plate from Rahim Sterling, James added the Blues' third goal in the 62nd minute with a strong shot from inside the penalty area. It was the first time Chelsea and AC Milan had faced off in the Champions League since the 1999–2000 campaign's group stage, when both games—including the 0-0 draw at Stamford Bridge—ended in draws.
